Why Social Media Management Courses Mattered in 2020
When searching for the social media management course 2020 that best fits your needs, options can seem overwhelming.
In 2020, social media management was more crucial than ever. Digital marketing had become the backbone for businesses aiming to survive and thrive online. Navigating through the myriad digital channels requires structured learning. Social media management courses emerged to address this very need, offering comprehensive ways to build a brand, engage audiences, and drive sales.
For those unfamiliar, social media management encompasses everything from creating content to understanding analytics and engaging with your target audience. Courses like those offered by Coursera, HubSpot, and Google provided invaluable structured learning to hone these skills.
My name is Haiko de Poel Jr, and I specialize in digital marketing strategies, including social media management. With years of experience in branding and eCommerce, I’ve seen the change these courses can bring to your business’s online presence.
Fundamentals of Social Media Management
Understanding the fundamentals of social media management is crucial for anyone looking to build a strong online presence. Below, we’ll explore some key elements: online tools, social media campaigns, branding, etiquette, games, and contests.
Online Tools
Using the right online tools can make managing social media much easier. Tools like Hootsuite help you schedule posts, track engagement, and analyze performance. These platforms offer dashboards where you can view all your social media accounts in one place, making it simple to manage multiple channels.
“Using Hootsuite has streamlined our social media strategy,” says Sarah, a small business owner. “We can now schedule posts in advance and monitor their performance effortlessly.”
Social Media Campaigns
Running effective social media campaigns is an art. These campaigns aim to promote a specific goal, whether it’s increasing brand awareness, driving website traffic, or boosting sales. Successful campaigns are well-planned and align with your overall marketing strategy.
For instance, Nike’s “Just Do It” campaign leveraged powerful storytelling and user-generated content to engage with their audience on a deeper level. This approach not only increased their engagement rates but also strengthened their brand identity.
Branding
Branding is more than just a logo or a catchy tagline. It’s about creating a consistent and memorable experience for your audience. A strong brand identity helps build trust and loyalty among your followers.
“Your brand is the single most important investment you can make in your business,” says Steve Forbes, Editor-in-Chief of Forbes.
Consistent branding across all social media platforms ensures that your audience recognizes and trusts your brand, whether they’re on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn.
Etiquette
Social media etiquette is often overlooked but is vital for maintaining a positive online presence. This includes responding to comments and messages promptly, using appropriate language, and respecting your audience’s privacy. Good etiquette fosters a respectful and engaging community.
For example, Zappos is known for their exceptional customer service on social media. They respond quickly to customer inquiries and handle complaints professionally, which has earned them a loyal customer base.
Games and Contests
Engagement is key to a successful social media strategy, and one of the best ways to engage your audience is through games and contests. These activities not only attract attention but also encourage user participation and interaction.
A case in point is Starbucks’ “White Cup Contest”. They invited customers to decorate their Starbucks cups and share photos on social media. The contest went viral, generating thousands of user-generated content pieces and significantly increasing their brand visibility.
Games and contests can be simple yet effective ways to boost engagement and create a buzz around your brand.
